Everything you want to know about the Master, the ASBL, trips, support and enrolment.
The Master lasts 3 years and represents 150 internal credits. It is organised around 5 thematic modules spread over the three years. Assessment consists of case studies and a dissertation presented before a panel of experts. On completion, the student receives the Al Mihrab Institute diploma, which certifies a structured academic path in the Islamic sciences.
The diploma awarded by Al Mihrab is a private-institute diploma. It certifies a structured academic path in the Islamic sciences (Qur'an, hadith, fiqh, theology, philosophy, Arabic language). The Al Mihrab Institute is not accredited by the Belgian higher-education authorities: the diploma therefore does not carry any automatic university equivalence. For any question about how your prior studies might be recognised, contact us.

Yes, all classes are streamed live online and recorded with replay (salam.gurucan.com platform, access included in enrolment). Students living outside Belgium — in France, Switzerland, Senegal or anywhere in the French-speaking world — can follow the entire programme remotely. For certain classes, it is possible to attend in person at the premises in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. The dissertation defence can be held remotely for students living outside Belgium.

Yes. Classes take place in the evening (6 pm–9 pm) and every other Saturday (10 am–2 pm), designed to fit around working life. The replays allow you to catch up on missed sessions. Spreading the programme over a longer period can be considered according to your needs — to be confirmed with the pedagogical management during the enrolment interview.
The Al Mihrab Institute reviews each file individually. You can submit your background (transcripts, study certificates) to info@almihrab.be. The pedagogical coordination will assess the possibilities for recognising prior learning or for direct integration into the programme.
Al Mihrab is a non-profit association (ASBL) under Belgian law, founded in Brussels in 2019. It is registered under number BE 0741.612.609 and has its registered office at Rue Ransfort 38, 1080 Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. Its mission is the transmission of the Islamic sciences and the service of living together in French-speaking Europe.
Al Mihrab is part of the classical Sunni Islamic tradition, with a reading of the Islamic sciences rooted in the recognised schools of law (madhâhib), in particular the Maliki and Hanafi schools, which are dominant in the countries of origin of much of Europe's Muslim community. The institute favours a moderate, academic approach that is open to dialogue.
Al Mihrab is chaired by Prof. Mohamed Galaye Ndiaye, theologian and teacher. The team comprises Souade Taje (Vice-President, Treasury), Ahmed Ouzzine (Secretariat), Fatima Ait Messaoud (Pedagogical coordination), Denis Marchat (Communication) and Kamar Takkal (Administration). The teaching staff comprises 14 specialist professors. See the full team.
Yes, the institute regularly organises lectures open to all: an inaugural lecture for the academic year, thematic seminars (for example on the objectives of the Sharia, maqasid), interfaith round tables. The calendar is available on the Agenda page.
The institute organises several guided trips each year: an Umrah to Mecca and Medina (October 2026, 100 places), study trips to Andalusia (Cordoba, Granada, Seville), to Morocco (Fez), and to Central Asia (Uzbekistan). These trips combine historical visits, lectures and spiritual guidance.
The next Umrah guided by Al Mihrab is planned for October 2026, with 100 places available, for a 10-day spiritual trip to Mecca and Medina. The programme includes pedagogical guidance before, during and after the trip. Enrolment is through the contact form.
Three ways to contribute: (1) a one-off donation by bank transfer to account BE60 3631 9798 0070 (BIC: BBRUBEBB); (2) a regular monthly donation that lets the institute plan its activities with peace of mind; (3) sponsoring a student for a whole academic year. All contributions are sadaqa jariya. See the Support page for details.
The Al Mihrab ASBL is working towards obtaining the tax recognition that will eventually allow it to issue tax certificates for donations over €40. To date, this recognition has not yet been obtained. For the current status, write to info@almihrab.be.
